Biography
I have devoted my career to helping patients restore comfort, dignity and confidence through compassionate, evidence-based urologic care. As director of the Charlotte and Cabarrus Continence Centers and professor of urology at Wake Forest School of Medicine, I lead a multidisciplinary team specializing in bladder health, pelvic floor disorders and neurogenic bladder management – particularly for individuals living with spinal cord injury or complex neurologic conditions.
With more than 30 years of experience, I’m nationally recognized for advancing patient-centered models of continence care. My leadership includes serving as secretary of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), past president of the Academy of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals and advisor to the American Board of Urology. I have been honored as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and Charlotte magazine Top Doctor, reflecting both clinical excellence and patient trust.
My research focuses on improving outcomes and quality of life for patients with incontinence and neurogenic bladder. I lead multicenter clinical trials evaluating new technologies and therapies and my publications emphasize practical, real world solutions that make care more effective and accessible. As an educator, I mentor residents and fellows, sharing my passion for innovation and empathy in every stage of training.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy golf and travel with my wife, exploring new destinations and spending time outdoors. I value community engagement and believe that every patient interaction – whether in the exam room or at a conference podium – is an opportunity to make life better for someone.
